Frequently Asked Questions

Standard (dyed) tint primarily adds privacy and reduces some glare, but it offers limited heat rejection and tends to fade over time. Ceramic tint uses nano-ceramic particles instead of dyes or metals, which means it blocks significantly more infrared heat (up to 98% with XPEL Prime XR PLUS), rejects 99% of UV rays, and won’t interfere with your GPS, Bluetooth, or cell signal. It also lasts longer and resists fading, bubbling, and discoloration.

Your front side windows must allow more than 27% of light through (27% VLT or lighter). The windshield can only have non-reflective tint on the top four inches, down to the AS-1 line. Your back side windows and rear window must also allow more than 27% VLT, unless your front side windows and windshield are over 70% VLT, in which case the rear glass can be any shade. If you tint the rear window, your vehicle needs dual side mirrors. Red and amber colors are banned, and the film cannot have a mirrored or metallic finish. Note that Colorado does not recognize medical exemptions for darker tint.

A full installation on a standard four-door sedan typically takes 1.5 to 3 hours at our Westminster shop. We use XPEL’s Design Access Program (DAP) to computer-cut every piece of film to your vehicle’s exact specifications, which speeds up the process and eliminates on-car cutting. More complex vehicles, such as SUVs with panoramic roofs, may take a bit longe

It depends on your priorities. Colorado allows front side windows down to about 27% VLT, which is darker than many states permit, though plenty of drivers keep the fronts lighter for a clean look and clear visibility. On the rear windows, most Front Range customers choose 15 to 20% VLT for a good balance of privacy and visibility, or 5% (limo tint) for maximum privacy. Remember, darker isn’t always better for heat rejection: ceramic technology blocks infrared heat regardless of shade, so even a lighter tint can keep your car significantly cooler.

No. Aftermarket window tint installed by a certified professional will not void your vehicle warranty under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. The dealer would have to prove that the tint directly caused a specific failure, which is extremely rare. XPEL films are tested for compatibility with vehicle safety systems, including side-curtain airbags.
